Mpumalanga Community Safety MEC, Jackie Macie, is urging motorists to remain vigilant on the roads to prevent further fatal incidents.
This comes after a tragic crash on the N2 near Mkhondo on Sunday, which claimed the lives of four people.
Officials said that three of the victims were passengers in a sedan that collided with a light delivery vehicle.
Department spokesperson Moeti Mmusi said that the cause of the crash was still under investigation, but reckless driving has not been ruled out.
"The MEC is appealing to motorists to be cautious on the road. Motorists must always be alert on the road. Every driver must obey the rules, prioritise their own safety and that of other road users to avoid needless loss of life and injuries."
