JOHANNESBURG - Build One South Africa (BOSA) is in talks with several like-minded political parties about a possible merger ahead of next year’s local government elections.
The discussions are believed to involve Action SA, Rise Mzansi and the Good Party.
The move is aimed at reducing vote fragmentation and preventing municipal councils from being dominated by numerous small parties with limited influence.
At a media briefing on Thursday, BOSA leader Mmusi Maimane said a decision will soon be taken on how the party will approach next year’s polls.
"We have to do everything in our power to make sure that we achieve change in 2026. BOSA has always committed itself to working and speaking to a number of organisations to put up a compelling vision for metros and governments.
"How do we ensure that more people can work together so that whatever happens in the elections, you don’t feel the fragmentation but rather a block of parties who are willing to work together and deliver the change that we need."
