JOHANNESBURG - The family of slain Gauteng crime warden, Chesnay Keppler, has expressed satisfaction that the man accused of her murder will face the music in the dock for the alleged crime.

Eldorado Park policeman, Mandla Buthelezi, appeared briefly in the Protea Magistrates Court in Soweto on Monday.

He is accused of shooting and killing Keppler on Boxing Day in 2024 and later attempting to take his own life but failed.

Buthelezi was in hospital under police guard following the incident and was later discharged and arrested.

The case was on Monday postponed to 26 February for further investigations.

Meanwhile, the victim's family spokesperson, Sizwe Maseko, said that justice must be served.

"Because he was in hospital we couldn't see him in court on our last court date but now since it states that he is caught and we saw him in court and we see him. Seeing him going to custody gives us, as a family, relief because we know it's January there's lots of cases, so we are looking forward to the 26th due to the investigations but nonetheless, I can say we are relieved."
