KZN police shoot dead three suspected hijackers in Umlazi

DURBAN - Three suspected hijackers have been shot and killed in Umlazi, south of Durban.
A police officer was also injured in the incident.
The suspects allegedly ordered an e-hailing service and then allegedly hijacked the driver.

In less than two weeks, police have shot and killed 17 suspected criminals in KwaZulu-Natal.
In the latest incident, three carjackers were killed moments after hijacking an e-hailing vehicle.
Police spokesperson Robert Netshiunda said, “A high-speed chase ensued and at T Section, the suspects opened fire towards the police and in self-defence, a shootout ensued. Three suspects were shot and fatally wounded in the shootout.”
A police officer was shot and wounded and is in a stable condition in hospital.
On Tuesday night, police shot and killed five suspected criminals in Cato Crest.
