JOHANNESBURG - Police continue their public plea for any information that may lead to the arrest of a lone gunman who shot and killed a woman at a Metrobus station in Roodepoort on Wednesday.
The unidentified victim was an employee of Nedbank and was shot twice by a man who was waiting on board a Metrobus for the unassuming woman to enter.
Nedbank confirmed the woman was an employee, but declined to reveal which division or branch she worked at.
Police continue their hunt for a man who killed a 40-year-old Nedbank employee in Roodepoort on Wednesday morning.
The perpetrator fled the scene in a white VW polo with no vehicle registration plates after deliberately targeting and shooting the woman twice.
"It is alleged that the suspect was inside the bus as it stopped at the bus stop. As the woman was about to get into the bus, the suspect fired several shots at her," said police spokesperson Mavelo Masondo.
City of Joburg MMC for Transport Kenny Kunene said that the victim had alerted her family last week about unknown people lurking at the bus station.
"The husband of the deceased informed me that the deceased complained last week Friday that there were people there at the bus station that they were not familiar with."
Police are combing through CCTV footage from inside the bus, as well as the station, for leads.
