Rescue crews in Limpopo have recovered the body of a man during search operations on Tuesday as flooding continues to batter parts of the province.

The discovery was made in Ngalavhani near Musina as emergency teams responded to calls from communities cut off by swollen rivers and damaged infrastructure.

Authorities say it's still unclear whether the death is directly linked to recent flooding.

Emergency services and divers have been navigating difficult conditions, including flooded roads and damaged bridges, while responding to incidents and assisting communities that have been left isolated.

“We got a 34-year-old male, without any injuries, we took him outside of the river and we took him to the local police," said Vhembe rescue team leader, Ndivhuho Nekhumbe.

The body has since been handed over to forensic teams for processing and identification.

Authorities say an investigation will determine the circumstances surrounding the man’s death.
