Stefanutti Stocks coastal manager survives attempted assassination in Pinetown

Gun firearm shooting weapon shot gunman arms

Stefanutti Stocks coastal manager Matthew Horwill survived an attempted assassination in Pinetown, west of Durban, on Friday morning.

A gunman, lying in wait at the construction giant's headquarters on Henwood Road, ambushed the 44-year-old as he approached the office.

Horwill's Toyota Land Cruiser was riddled with gunfire, with at least seven bullet holes visible on the driver's side door and windows.

Jeff Wicks, an investigative reporter for News24, reports that Horwill sustained a gunshot wound to his arm and was rushed to a nearby hospital before emergency services arrived, where he remained in a stable condition.

"Luckily for him, he was very close to a private hospital."
