JOHANNESBURG - Limpho Hani, widow to struggle icon Chris Hani, said her husband’s grave is a no-go zone for the uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) party, which is backed by former president Jacob Zuma.

She said even if her husband - an icon in South Africa’s struggle for liberation was alive today - he wouldn’t take up membership with the organisation.

Hani released a statement through her lawyers calling for her husband’s legacy to be protected.

The MK party, which officially launched in December, is an African National Congress (ANC) splinter party and it has the former ANC president as its face for electioneering campaigns.

Moreover, Limpho said that if Chris were alive today, he would never associate himself with the corrupt, fraudsters, imposters and effective criminals the MK party appears to attract.

Ironically, Zuma was the last ANC leader to see Hani alive.

Limpho further called for Chris’s legacy to be protected and saved from bloodthirsty criminal elements, while also warning against the use of his images for any insignia or apparel.

She also made it clear she is not interested in taking up any membership in the MK party.

This comes hot on the heels of the families of Collins Chabane and Peter ‘Dambuza’ Malada rejecting attempts by Zuma to visit the graves of the two MK veterans in Limpopo.
