Extremely hot conditions continue in parts of the Northern and Western Cape

Residents in parts of the Northern and Western Cape have been advised to stay hydrated as extremely hot conditions continue.
The South African Weather Service (SAWS) said that uncomfortable conditions are expected in the Namakwa district in the Northern Cape as well as parts of the Western Cape including the Overberg district.
Locals are warned to avoid prolonged exposure to the sun and take safety measures to prevent heat-related illnesses.
Forecaster Tokelo Chiloane said that temperatures could rise significantly during the day, creating unpleasant conditions.
"The western and southern parts of South Africa will experience high maximum temperatures today. As a precaution, the South African Weather Service has issued a heatwave advisory for the interior of the Eastern Cape valid for the 15th to the 16th of March 2026.”
