Investigations are continuing after three people, a woman and two children believed to be her own, were killed after being hit by a car on the N4 toll road between Machadodorp and Belfast on Friday.
Authorities said that the tragedy highlights ongoing challenges about pedestrian safety, urging both drivers and pedestrians to remain cautious and follow road rules.
“An investigation into the crash is underway, with the police investigating three counts of culpable homicide. Mpumalanga MEC for Community Safety, Security and Liaison Jackie Macie has sent his heartfelt condolences to the family.”
In a separate incident, two motorists were detained on the N3 for excessive speeding - one clocked at 200 kilometres per hour and another at 176 kilometres an hour.
