Eskom said that South Africa’s power system remains steady and reliable, with major improvements across its generation fleet.

The utility reports energy availability factor averaged 65.35% for the 2025/26 financial year, up nearly 5% from the last year.

It also highlights 322 consecutive days without supply interruptions, and no load shedding occurring between September 2025 and March 2026.

Eskom Spokesperson Daphne Mokwena said week-to-week performance remains strong, with unplanned outages averaging 9,879 megawatts, down nearly 4,200 megawatts from 2025 - almost the capacity of Kusile Power Station

“Over the same period, the Unplanned Capacity Loss Factor, reflecting unplanned outages, was at 20.75%, representing a reduction of 8.77% compared to the 29.52% recorded during the same period last year.”
