The Madlanga Commission of Inquiry will make a ruling on Monday on whether controversial businessman and African National Congress (ANC) backer Suliman Carrim will testify behind closed doors.
Last Friday, Carrim made an in-camera application, citing security risks to his life and family.

Evidence leaders oppose Carrim's request to testify in-camera at Madlanga Commission
Carrim has been accused by previous witnesses of meddling with confidential business and receiving kickbacks from the irregular R360 million South African Police Service (SAPS) tender awarded to suspected crime boss Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala.
Since the Madlanga Commission began its work, Carrim has been its most litigious witness.
Carrim first challenged his subpoena to testify at the High Court and lost. He then successfully applied to have his testimony postponed by a month.
And now he is seeking to testify in-camera and virtually from an undisclosed location.
However, evidence leader Adila Hassim is opposing the application.
She said the commission can protect him.
“In light of the threats received, the commission can protect the witness in other ways, not through an in-camera application.”
Carrim is scheduled to testify on Monday and Tuesday.
