The closure of airspace in the United Arab Emirates has disrupted several flights between South Africa and the conflict-ridden Middle East.
Airports Company South Africa (ACSA) has confirmed that the airspace shutdown is impacting flights operated by Emirates and Qatar Airways. Tensions in the Middle East have escalated over the past two days following military strikes involving Iran, Israel, and the United States.
IMPACT ON LOCAL HUBS
Flights to and from the following international airports have been affected:
OR Tambo International
King Shaka International
Cape Town International
A total of 14 inbound and outbound flights across the three airports have been cancelled as tensions continue in the region.

ACSA has urged passengers to contact their airlines or relevant authorities for updated information regarding flights to the region.
