As Cape Town deals with daily gun violence, Delft is seeing some successes in taking illegal firearms off the streets.
Following a meeting with members of the Western Cape government and the City of Cape Town’s Law Enforcement Advancement Plan (LEAP) and the SAPS in Delft, Premier Alan Winde said that the area had seen some significant progress.
One hundred and thirty LEAP officers work closely with police in the community that's had some of the worst crime stats in recent times.
Winde, however, is seeing some changes: "The interesting data point from LEAP is that they are now the number one area on the firearms taken off the streets, out of the circulation system, of course, is really to be recognised."
