ActionSA's mayoral candidate for Ekurhuleni, Xolani Khumalo, is set to be sworn in as a councillor in the municipality.
The move is aimed at giving the former Sizok’thola presenter some political and legislative experience ahead of the upcoming local government elections.

Questions have been raised over the crime-fighting activist’s lack of political and legislative experience.
However, ActionSA president, Herman Mashaba, said that’s not an issue, as he also had zero public governance experience when he became mayor of Johannesburg in 2016.
"In another week or so, Xolani will be sworn in as a councillor, so by the time he becomes a mayor, he will have a better experience than what I was subjected to. So, when criminals can run it, when there’s racists that can run a municipality, I don’t see why Xolani cannot obviously do a much better job than what these criminals and racists we have at the moment."
