Cachalia approves appointment of two senior officials to key positions within his office

Amid the ongoing Madlanga Judicial Commission of Inquiry, which has identified the current chief of staff in the police ministry as a potential witness, the Ministry of Police has announced key secondments to ensure the seamless functioning of the office.
The appointments come as the Madlanga Commission continues to probe alleged misconduct and operational lapses within the broader security cluster.
According to the ministry, the move is necessary to maintain stability and uninterrupted operations during this period of heightened public scrutiny.

"Major General Pienaar is currently serving in the SAPS division, visible policing and operations and will take on the role of chief of staff. Whilst Ms Matlala, who's a senior manager market data analyst from the SIU, will join the minister's office as a personal assistant,"said spokesperson for the Minister of Police, Kamogelo Mogotsi.
The ministry further reaffirmed its commitment to upholding constitutional principles.
"The minister remains committed to upholding the integrity of the office and reinforcing efforts to enhance the safety and security of all South Africans as enshrined in our constitution."
