Major crash near Silverstar Casino causes traffic disruptions and delays

The Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) has warned motorist to expect some delays close to the Silverstar Casino interchange caused by a major accident on Saturday.
 
The accident which occurred on Saturday morning involved a truck and 33 motor vehicles 

JMPD spokesperson Xolani Fihla said emergency services have successfully cleared the wrecked vehicles from the roadway.

“Preliminary reports indicate the truck, carrying animal feed, collided with stationary traffic, resulting in a significant pile-up. Several motorists sustained slight injuries and have been transported to local hospitals. Fortunately, no fatalities have been reported.”
 
But as clean-up operations continue, motorists can expect some residual delays still.
 
Police are, meanwhile, currently investigating a case of reckless and negligent driving regarding the incident.
