City Power has reaffirmed its commitment to rooting out corruption, including its employees linked to stealing and tampering with infrastructure.
In the latest incident, three of the power suppliers' workers were arrested on charges of meddling with essential infrastructure.
The three allegedly cut through core copper cables in Ruimsig earlier this year.
City power spokesperson Isaac Mangane says these criminal activity often leaves many communities in the darkness.
“We really cannot and will not allow criminals, whether external syndicates or our own employees to basically sabotage our network and undermine the service delivery efforts that we are making for the paying customers, who are constantly inconvenienced by the outages that are happening, especially in this area of Roodeport, where there have been several cable thefts and vandalism which led to prolonged outages in the area.”
