CAPE TOWN - US President-elect Donald Trump will return to the White House on Monday amid a ceasefire in Gaza that took effect hours before his final supporters rally in Washington on Sunday.

Three Israeli women were released as hostages shortly before Trump took to the stage.

Giving his supporters an insight into the 100 executive orders he is expected to sign on his first day in office, Trump also took a swipe at his predecessor, Joe Biden, for his handling of the war in Gaza.

"Our incoming administration has achieved all of this in the Middle East in less than three months without being president. We’ve achieved more without being president than they’ve achieved in four years, with being president. But just imagine all the good things we will accomplish together with four more years in the White House."

Trump also praised his new Middle East envoy, billionaire real estate developer, Steve Witkoff, who accompanied Trump on his recent visit to Israel to meet with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

"He's an amazing guy. I said I need to get myself a negotiator. We need to get a good negotiator. A lot of guys are knowledgeable, but they can’t negotiate. They don't have the personality, or whatever. And Steve does, and Steve’s a great negotiator, a very successful guy. But he’s our new special envoy to the Middle East for helping us reach this great breakthrough and really this couldn’t have been done without him."
