The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) confirmed that it is tracking a car-sized asteroid that will come closer to the Earth than the moon.
2026 FM3, along with four other asteroids, is expected to pass the Earth over the next two days.
They range in size from a car and an aeroplane to a house.
2026 FM3 is expected to be closer to the Earth than the moon, which is, on average, 384,600 km away.
The other meteors mentioned will pass us from a million to four million kilometres away.
The agency confirmed that none of the asteroids will be close enough to cause concern.
Several meteors have been spotted by eyewitnesses across the United States this week, as shared by NASA’s Space Alerts.

NASA explained that while it seems sightings have been more frequent, this is not unusual, as the northern hemisphere is in peak ‘fireball' season.
“From February through April, the appearance rate of these very bright meteors can increase by as much as 10% to 30%, especially around the weeks of the March equinox.”
