Ayabonga Mjilo to be laid to rest

Mjilo went missing on Christmas Day. Her body was later discovered buried at the home of her former work manager in the Inanda area, north of Durban.

DURBAN - Slain Ayabonga Mjilo will be laid to rest in the Hlokozi area on Saturday. 

Mjilo went missing on Christmas Day.

The 23-year-old's body was later discovered buried at the home of her former work manager in the Inanda area, north of Durban.  

The former manager, Mfanafuthi Kunene has appeared in the Durban Magistrates Court for her disappearance and murder.

Family and friends of the slain 23-year-old year will gather to pay their last respects as they bid a final farewell to her. 

KwaZulu-Natal Premier Thamsanqa Ntuli is set to be in attendance. He is also set to make pronouncements on plans to curb the scourge in the province.

Mjilo’s case adds to several similar incidents of women killed in the province, especially in December.
