Ekurhuleni thunderstorm leaves several houses damaged, two people injured

JOHANNESBURG - Several houses were damaged and two people were injured following a severe thunderstorm in the City of Ekurhuleni.
Disaster and Emergency Management Services says it responded to calls after a heavy thunderstorm blew roofs of several homes in Thembisa.
Eighteen homes in Mashemong were affected, and six homes and two blocks of Sethokga hostels were also affected. The Sedibeng section had eight houses damaged and Morithing had two houses damaged.

The city's disaster spokesperson William Ntladi says no deaths have been reported.
"Apparently as per information received it started on the 17th, that was on Tuesday around 6 o'clock in the evening, when the storm blew through some sections within Thembisa. We have identified several houses whose roofs were blown off, and as we went through the sections to identify the damage, we found that one house whose entire roof was actually blown off."
