SANTACO expresses sadness after deadly Graaff-Reinet collision

CAPE TOWN - The South African National Taxi Council (SANTACO) has expressed its sadness, following an accident near Graaff-Reinet in Eastern Cape where 15 people died.
The head-on collision involving a SUV and a minibus taxi happened on the N9 on Monday.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.
The taxi, which belongs to the Cape Organisation for the Democratic Taxi Association (CODETA), was traveling from Saldhana Bay to Gatyane - or Willowvale - in Eastern Cape.
"SANTACO calls on our drivers and all road users to exercise extreme caution when traveling, adhere to all road safety regulations, avoid reckless and negligent behaviour on the roads, and prioritise safety above all else. We also urge the relevant authorities to intensify their efforts to ensure road safety and to hold accountable those who flout road safety regulations.”
