Nkosi claims bag collected from Molefe’s house was biking equipment, not money

Gauteng cop Sergeant Fannie Nkosi has denied collecting a bag full of money from alleged crime boss Katiso "KT" Molefe, saying the bag was full of biking apparel.

Last November, the head of Crime Intelligence at the South African Police Service (SAPS), Dumisani Khumalo, testified that he believed the bag Nkosi was carrying was filled with money.

Nkosi has the number of Molefe saved as ‘"Daddy K" on his contact list, saying he views the controversial businessman as a father figure.

Nkosi, an avid biker, said he got Molefe interested in the sport.

He said Molefe purchased apparel from Harley-Davidson; however, it didn’t fit him.

Nkosi said the bag he took from Molefe was filled with biker apparel that he was going to return to the Harley-Davidson store.

Matthew Chaskalson, the commission’s evidence leader, asked, “Would that [the shape of the bag] be consistent with the shape of gloves, some t-shirts and a helmet shield?”

“That’s correct,” Nkosi replied.

Chaskalson asked, “How?”

“Because I was the one who was holding them. I know those were gloves, t-shirts and helmet shields,” Nkosi responded.

Chaskalson said Nkosi’s story doesn’t add up, as the apparel was bought 11 months before he collected it, and he didn’t end up returning it to the store.
