Minister of Justice Mmamoloko Kubayi has condemned the killing of a lawyer in the Johannesburg CBD.
Chinette Gallichan was gunned down by unknown suspects near the CCMA offices on Monday.
According to reports, she was a legal practitioner attached to Sibanye-Stillwater’s legal team.
It’s understood she was working on a labour dispute on behalf of the company at the time of her death.
Police have launched an investigation into her death, with no arrests made so far.
Kubayi said violence can never be accepted as a means of resolving disputes.
Her spokesperson, Terrence Menase, said, "The minister noted that investigations are ongoing and called on law enforcement agencies to act swiftly and decisively to ensure that the perpetrators are brought to justice, in line with due process. Minister Kubayi extended her sincere condolences to the family of the deceased, as well as to her colleagues in the legal fraternity."
