CAPE TOWN – African National Congress (ANC) Secretary General Fikile Mbalula said that Justice Minister Thembi Simelane’s future in cabinet lies squarely on the president.
Mbalula confirmed that Simelane has given a detailed report to President Cyril Ramaphosa, accounting for her allegations on the VBS Mutual Bank matter.
It emerged that Simelane received a loan from a company accused of looting the now-defunct bank.

Speaking on the sidelines of the ANC’s National Working Committee meeting at the Birchwood Hotel on Monday, Mbalula said the party was also looking into the matter.
“In relation to government's side, the president’s prerogative has kicked in. The president will make a determination, based on the reports he received from the minister. On our part, the integrity commission is the route the comrade will follow over and above the reports she has given to us.”
