JOHANNESBURG - Former Eskom CEO Brian Molefe made his maiden appearance in a portfolio committee meeting in Parliament on Wednesday, where he questioned the country's nuclear plans.
Molefe ran the utility between 2015 and 2016 before he resigned from the SOE and later appeared before the state capture commission for his links to the Gupta brothers.
But Molefe is now an MK Party MP and serves on the electricity and energy committee, which met on Wednesday to receive a briefing from Eskom on its Koeberg plans and its new nuclear programme.
One of Molefe's first contributions as an MK Party MP was ironically directed at the company he ran for about a year.
On Wednesday, Molefe wore a different hat as a lawmaker and had several questions for Eskom on Koeberg's long-term operation and nuclear training.
"What is Eskom's programme to train nuclear engineers specifically for deployment at Koeberg."
The Democratic Alliance (DA)'s Kevin Mileham, meanwhile, questioned the costs of the Koeberg life extension.
Eskom said there was a business case for the extension of Koeberg and the costs would be just under R20 billion.
