JOHANNESBURG - It remains unclear why the case against ex-convict and controversial media personality, Molemo "Jub Jub" Maarohanye has been escalated to the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.

Maarohanye returned to the Johannesburg Magistrates Court on Tuesday after his last appearance early February.

The matter has yet again been postponed, this time to 23 April.

He is facing 13 criminal charges including rape, indecent assault, kidnapping and assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

Jub Jub and his team chose to remain mum about the details behind their new legal move.

His counsel has not changed their stance on the defamed musician's alleged innocence.

When approached after proceedings, Jub Jub refused to speak to Eyewitness News about the case or the reason for the escalation of the matter against him.

The accused is still out on R10,000 and is sworn to strict conditions including no communication with victims or complainants.

On the other hand the NPA believes it still has a solid case against the musician and media personality.
