CAPE TOWN - The Cape Winelands District Municipality fire services says most fires in the region – including one that has been raging for 11 days have been contained.
Municipality spokesperson Jo-Anne Otto says the only fire still active is on the Brandvlei mountains and mopping-up operations will continue in Wolseley and Worcester.
Otto says teams are on high alert for possible flare-ups as temperatures are predicted to soar on Friday.

Meanwhile, Overstrand Mayor Annelie Rabie has provided an update on the fires that have been raging there for the past five days.
"The fire on the Pringle Bay side is contained but not extinguished. On the other side, namely the Buffelsjag and Pearly Beach there the fire is raging out of control."
Rabie says a large contingent of firefighters are determined to extinguish the blaze on Friday, this while the wind speed in the area is expected to increase over the weekend.
