The Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) said it will lay charges against one of its officers for using State resources on alleged crime boss Katiso "KT" Molefe.
In a statement on Friday morning, the JMPD said its investigation into Johannes Makgatle's conduct found that he was in breach of a vehicle policy.
Makgatle was placed on suspension during the probe.
During testimonies heard at the Madlanga Commission, Makgatle was accused of aiding Molefe.
The metro department’s investigation found that Makgatle was off sick, only to use a departmental vehicle to drive to Molefe’s home.
He was found at the property, where he allegedly disrupted investigators to stop them from arresting Molefe.
Makgatle is also guilty of not filing an occurrence book entry form or getting permission from his superior to use the car.
In the statement, JMPD spokesperson Xolani Fihla said that Makgatle will remain suspended while formal charges will be laid against him and the matter will be referred for internal prosecution.
