Cape Town flood assessments find minimal damage after heavy rains

The City of Cape Town’s disaster risk management centre says its flood assessments show limited damage following recent heavy rains.
The centre has completed assessments in informal settlements where flooding was reported over the past few days.

Multiple reports were received of affected structures, flooded roads, and blocked drains across parts of the metro.
Disaster risk management centre spokesperson Sonica Lategan says the assessments ultimately found minimal damage.
"Our disaster risk management officials did go out to the incidents that were reported, especially from the informal settlements. The assessments concluded that it was only leaking roofs and some wet floors, so the people only requested plastic sheets," she said.
