The Road Traffic Infringement Agency (RITA) has warned motorists to be cautious of fraudulent traffic fine communications.
Motorists have reported having received SMSs and emails regarding outstanding fines.
While some are offering motorists discounts to pay their fines, others are demanding immediate payment or face penalties under the Administrative Adjudication of Road Traffic Offences (AARTO) Act.
There have also been claims of enforcement notices threatening to block license renewals.
RITA warns motorists to be wary and not to share any personal information or pay the alleged fines.
Motorists are warned not to click on suspicious links and only use accredited platforms when making payments.
You can verify outstanding fines directly on the AARTO website or call the AARTO Call Centre on 086 122 7861.
If you receive any suspicious communications, it is advised to report them to RITA.
