The Western Cape government has set aside R67 million to rebuild and strengthen Paarl Hospital after a fire damaged a section of the facility earlier in 2026.
The funding, confirmed during last week’s provincial budget, will fast-track repairs to key infrastructure, including the outpatient department.
Health and Wellness MEC Mireille Wenger said that the hospital's roof is fully reconstructed, and interior restoration is now underway after the January fire.
Wenger said the waiting area and reception are also being repaired.
"What is most important is that despite the damage caused by the fire, services have continued without interruption. Every service at Paarl Hospital is available with teams adapting quickly to make sure patients receive care."
