The acting national Police Commissioner, Puleng Dimpane, has vowed to act swiftly against any police officials implicated in wrongdoing.

Dimpane also wants the police force to focus its energy on strengthening its supply chain, a key area that’s been at the centre of high-profile corruption cases.

She was presenting the police’s annual performance plan before Parliament’s police portfolio committee on Wednesday.

"We are strengthening accountability mechanisms and reinforcing ethical leadership. Our commitment is clear: to act decisively against wrongdoing within our ranks," said Dimpane.

Dimpane, who headed the police’s finances, said another focus area is the police’s internal systems.

"We are also focused on rebuilding our internal systems, particularly the areas of supply chain and all governance-related systems to ensure that every rand delivers maximum value".

She added that their strategic direction will focus on strengthening crime intelligence and intensifying the response to organised crime and violent crimes.
