Gauteng SAPS probing attempted murder, torching of 3 trucks

Police are investigating cases of attempted murder and malicious damage to property after three trucks were torched on the N3 near Vosloorus, in the City of Ekurhuleni, on Wednesday night.
All three vehicles, along with their cargo, were destroyed.
According to police, the trucks were blocked by unknown suspects, who then opened fire in what is believed to have been an attempted hijacking.
Gauteng police spokesperson Noxolo Kweza said the drivers managed to escape unharmed, adding that no suspects have been arrested yet.
“Gauteng Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Tommy Mthombeni has condemned the attack. He indicated that the lawlessness will not be tolerated and those responsible will be brought to book.
“Police are appealing to anyone with information to come forward and report at their local police station or contact police on 08600 10111.”
