Police seize 1,000 mandrax tablets and cystal meth in Maitland raid

A man has been arrested for the possession of drugs during a search and seizure operation in Maitland.
In an intelligence sting on Saturday, police officers linked to operation lockdown three searched a premises on coronation street.

Police spokesperson Wesley Twigg said the Nigerian national is expected to appear in the Cape Town Magistrates’ court on Monday.
"At about 21:30, the members followed up on the information and searched the identified premises. During the search the members found 1078 mandrax tablets and 2311,16 grams of crystal meth in the living room of the house. "
In a separate incident, another man is expected in court on Monday after being arrested for dealing in drugs.
On Friday, police uncovered 5.6 kilograms of dagga and an undisclosed amount of cash at a spaza shop in Caledon.
