"We don't think it was appropriate."

He says the local cyclists are calling for the accused to face the full extent of the law.

"We've appointed an attorney on our side to help with the prosecution...to make sure every t is crossed and every i is dotted."

Robinson says often in cases like people are not properly brought to justice.

"Things get lost along the way, whether it's evidence, chain of custody, a technicality, a process issue and these guys get off."

Tributes continue to pour in for Sheriff from the cycling community who are calling for stricter law enforcement and lengthier convictions.

A petition is being circulated, demanding extended penalties for extreme cases of reckless driving and regular blood alcohol level tests on weekends and public holidays.
