The National Consumer Commission has announced a recall of certain Ford Transit and Transit Tourneo Custom vehicles.

The recall affects 582 vehicles in the 2022 to 2026 model range, which were sold nationwide between 2021 and 2025.

The commission said the issue relates to a faulty battery that may produce a strong acidic smell, a hissing sound or even visible gas emissions inside the vehicle

In some instances, parts of the vehicle may also feel unusually warm.

The supplier said the fault could result in the release of hydrogen sulphide gas, which may pose health risks if occupants are exposed over a prolonged period

Owners of affected vehicles are urged to take their cars to authorised dealerships for inspection and repairs, which will be done at no cost.
