Police detectives are currently in Saldanha Bay investigating new claims from a community member about the alleged whereabouts of missing child Joshlin Smith.
Joshlin's mother, Kelly Smith, Jacquen Appollis, and Steveno van Rhyn were sentenced to life behind bars for the little girl's disappearance from Middelpos in Saldanha in February 2024.
Western Cape police spokesperson Colonel André Traut says, at this stage, no tangible evidence linked to Joshlin has been found.

"At this stage, no tangible evidence linked to Joshlin Smith has been found. However, SAPS reiterates that all information received is treated with seriousness and thoroughly investigated. Since her disappearance, SAPS has pursued numerous leads provided by the public relating to her whereabouts and the circumstances surrounding her case. All information is rigorously assessed for credibility and evidential value, but unfortunately, none has yielded a breakthrough."
