The Western Cape High Court has heard that while tracking slain top cop Charl Kinnear, murder accused Zane Kilian used eight numbers saved under variations of alleged gang boss Nafiz Modack's name.

The prosecution in Modack's high-profile trial with Kilian and 13 others continued cross-examining him on Monday about Kinnear's murder.

Kinnear was shot dead outside his Bishop Lavis home five years ago.

The incident forms part of the 122 charges Modack and his co-accused face.

'Pablo Sheriff', 'Nafeez Modak', 'Nafiz 3', 'Nafiz ghost', 'Nafiz 2020', 'Modack' and 'NM new'.

Evidence shows these are the saved contacts, along with one unsaved number, that co-accused Zane Kilian was allegedly using to communicate with Nafiz Modack.

State prosecutor Greg Wolmarans told the court Kilian sent information about tracking slain top cop Charl Kinnear to four of the contacts.

"If I understand Kilian's evidence, he believed with all these names, he believed he was communicating with you."

Modack: " He said he wasn't sure who was on the other side, my lord."

Wolmarans said the state will argue there's enough evidence for the court to draw an inference that Modack was involved in the murder of Kinnear.
