The Madlanga Commission of Inquiry is expected continue hearing testimony into allegations of criminality, political interference and corruption in the criminal justice system on Monday morning.

The commission is currently switching between phase one and phase two of proceedings, where implicated individuals have also been called to formally respond to the allegations levelled against them.

But it remains unclear at this stage which witness will testify when proceedings resume.

Phase one of the commission's proceedings deals with the core allegations about the criminal justice system being captured, while phase two offers those implicated in phase one the opportunity to respond to the allegations made against them.

Last week, two senior members of South African Police Service (SAPS) testified regarding the 121 dockets that were transferred from the Political Killings Task Team (PKTT) to SAPS's headquarters in Pretoria.

Head of Serious and Violent Crimes Mary Motsepe and the acting Deputy National Police Commissioner for Crime Detection, Hilda Senthumule, testified about the task of auditing the 121 dockets and the facilitation of the handover.

Suspended Deputy National Commissioner Shadrack Sibiya instructed Senthumule to deal with the dockets after they were taken away from the PKTT in May, and only returned to the task team in August.
