Joburg EMS urges motorists to exercise caution in face of wet weather

Johannesburg’s emergency management services (EMS) is urging motorists to exercise caution as disruptive rains are expected to persist on Monday.
As of this morning there’s been no reports of major incidents resulting from the severe weather conditions.
The South African Weather Service (SAWS) issued a Level 4 and 5 weather warning for persisting thunderstorms.
Johannesburg MES’ spokesperson, Robert Mulaudzi, explained.
“Try and avoid crossing flooded roads and low-lying bridges. Our residents in our low-lying areas, especially our informal settlers, to continue to avoid crossing river streams while conducting daily activities and also our faith-based organisations to avoid visiting river streams to conduct baptisms and cleansing rituals since the water levels are much more higher now.”
