Overnight crews successfully prevented the fire from reaching the power lines supplying Fisherhaven and relief teams arrived at the scene at 9AM to support ongoing firefighting efforts.

Fire crews monitoring fire between Hawston & Fisherhaven

Fire crews are continuing with mop-up operations and monitoring and responding to spot fires and flare-ups between the Overstrand communities of Hawston and Fisherhaven.
 
More than 170 hectares have burned since the fire broke out on Thursday.
 
Overnight crews successfully prevented the fire from reaching the power lines supplying Fisherhaven and relief teams arrived at the scene at 9AM to support ongoing firefighting efforts. 
 
The fire is currently confined to a single block.
 
Overstrand Mayor Archie Klaas visited the scene on Thursday night and has thanked crews for their hard work.
 
"We say thank you so much to all the different teams that have come on board, the teams from Kleinmond, the private sector, the ambulance guys and everybody who came together to ensure that we manage this. It has been a very tight operation."
