One of the 14 co-accused in the high-profile trial of alleged underworld gang boss, Nafiz Modack, has taken issue with the food being served to prisoners at the Western Cape High Court.

The trial was delayed yet again on Wednesday after proceedings were postponed due to accused number four, Toufeek Brown, being ill.

Brown, who is allegedly the leader of a gang operating in Woodstock, claims that food served to him in the holding cells at court caused the illness.

Defence attorney Inger Jansen on Wednesday told the court that her client, Brown, had taken ill after eating food served to prisoners in the court's holding cells.

Jansen's request for a postponement was granted after she told the court that Brown needed urgent medical attention.

It's the State's case that Brown used the Terrible West Siders gang in Woodstock to perform murders on behalf of Modack.

State prosecutor Greg Wolmarans told the court that Brown needed to be present while Modack was being cross-examined.

"Unfortunately, the cross-examination of Mister Modack, who is in his position in the witness box, does bring in not only accused number four, but accused number five as well."

The matter is set to proceed on Thursday.
