Leon van den Berg, Abraham Engelbrecht and Pieter Stander are accused of Nyoka’s 1987 murder.
The Congress of South African Students (COSAS) leader was shot multiple times by the accused in his Daveyton home.
The State believes the order to murder Nyoka came from apartheid cop Van den Berg, who ordered Engelbrecht and Stander to carry out the killing.
Prosecutor Advocate Daniel Mogotsi said that the officers intended to murder Nyoka when they went to his home, and that’s why Engelbrecht wore a balaclava.
The accused have opted not to give a defence even though they do not deny shooting Nyoka.
Judgement in the matter will be handed down in November.
