The Gauteng Department of Education said classes will continue at Alberton Hoërskool in the east of Johannesburg on Monday morning after a plane crash landed on school grounds.
Ekurhuleni Emergency Services have confirmed that the plane was being flown by a student undergoing an examination, alongside an instructor.
Both of them escaped the crash unharmed.
Preliminary investigations reveal that the engine of the light aircraft failed before crashing into the school’s tuck shop.
Gauteng Education spokesperson Steve Mabona said: "The department commends the school’s management, emergency services and aviation authorities for their prompt response to this sudden incident. Their swift response ensured the safety of all those in the school premises at the time."
