Rand Water rejects claims of poisoned water in Vaal Dam

Rand Water has strongly rejected claims circulating that water from the Vaal Dam has been poisoned.
The water utility is warning the public about a WhatsApp voice note spreading these false allegations, stressing that it’s dangerous to share misleading information.
It also emphasised that any official communication or warnings would come through official, verified channels.
Rand Water has explained that all water from the Vaal Dam undergoes strict treatment processes. In a statement, the utility pointed out that raw and treated water is continuously tested before being delivered for consumption.
