The Gauteng Infrastructure Department has vowed to crack the whip on poor-performing service providers.
The provincial government has several stalled projects, from incomplete schools, clinics, and other critical service delivery infrastructure.
The department said the delays are due to a number of administrative reasons. However, high among those are service providers not doing their jobs effectively.
During a media briefing on Thursday, Infrastructure MEC, Jacob Mamabolo, said the department has already issued termination letters to some companies working on these stalled infrastructure projects.
"Termination of poor performance, companies that are non-compliant. Companies that, when they do work for the private sector, they do it to the best. When they do the same engineering work for government, they drag their feet. They give us incompetent, unqualified people. They do shoddy work, they don't honour their contractual obligations. That's going to have to end and end immediately."
