African National Congress (ANC) President Cyril Ramaphosa has taken a tough stance on the organisation's renewal, asserting that it is the only way the party can continue to survive.
Ramaphosa delivered the political overview of the ANC at its 5th National General Council (NGC), which is currently underway at the Birchwood Hotel in Boksburg.
The four-day gathering is designed to review the party's progress in implementing resolutions undertaken at its 55th National Elective Conference in 2022. This included the crucial resolution on organisational renewal.

Ramaphosa's address focused heavily on this renewal—and the urgent need for the party to rid itself of "bad habits," including the presence of corrupt members.
"If the ANC can demonstrably renew itself, then public attitudes [towards] our movement will shift from cynicism to possibly cautious optimism. We have to earn that trust through our actions, not our words."
