A women and children's rights organisation is asserting that greater support for young girls is needed in South Africa.
Women and Men Against Child Abuse (WMACA) states that creating more accessible trauma counselling areas is necessary and that expanding these spaces will require combined efforts.
Vincentia Dlamini, the organisation's operations director, said the country must ensure that "no child is left to navigate abuse alone."
She adds: "I think a safe space for girls and a respectful environment where they can speak freely is something that we need to also prioritise and creating more of those projects, programs in communities."
